about

Magnetude make a stunning debut entry on Evolution Chamber with their long-awaited track ‘Mantis’, a cut which caused devastation across the festival circuit this summer, also highlighting the first part of the imprint’s catalogue. And when considering the standard which has already been set by ‘Mantis’, Evolution Chamber’s launch couldn’t have been anymore titanic. Although from an imprint brought together by Task Horizon, Receptor and Magnetude themselves, this was sure to be the only outcome.

For the last three years, the Anglo Russian duo have been shaking the very core of drum and bass, drawing for their twist on the neuro infused dancefloor tracks which have graced the catalogues of labels such as RAM, Viper and Eatbrain. With sets at some of this year’s leading parties, such as Let It Roll and Creamfields festivals and Get in Step, they’re now about to unleash the Mantis, a track which has become a notorious staple within their track lists since it was first teased in May.

Its cinematic passage alerts you to a sinister atmosphere, one which will surely lead to your hairs standing on edge – the sonics tell the story of a Godzilla-like Mantis drawn from the deepest depths and leading an assault against a city… Something which can be felt through the record’s neurotic twists and cinematic opening sequence. Growling samples cut through its pounding, drum peppered intro, before you’re dragged into its grasps with no hope of return.

For those who survived ‘Mantis’, this single-sided release shows exactly why Magnetude have been a hotly tipped alias across dance music, and why they have been honoured with the first chapter of Evolution Chamber’s launch. It’s the first part of the journey for Evolution Chamber and with more to come from Receptor, Malux and Task Horizon, all boasting the same dance-floor etiquette, it’s soon to become a genre great.
